Restaurant Road Trip: Washington Square

Posted: Updated:

Everyone has a favorite place to eat. We might try new things from time to time, but we always go back to that one place we love.

Washington Square is many locals' favorite place to dine in Clarksburg, and has a huge selection.

"I think we make some of the best calzones, hoagies, pizza, and salads. Everything is homemade here," said Tim Gentilozzi, owner of Washington Square.

Homemade and fresh are two words that owner Gentilozzi used to describe Washington Square's food.

"All of our produce comes local from the produce house, and we cut it up and cook it fresh. Our peppers and onions are cooked fresh almost daily. We also cook steak, hand-cut meat, hand-cut ham, and hand-cut turkey, we cut it up all in the back," Gentilozzi explained.

One of Gentilozzi's main dishes is the calzone. A large size can feed a whole family. It's served with his award winning spaghetti sauce.

"We make our own homemade spaghetti sauce. It's a special sauce that we created here. It's a sweet basil, carrot, and meat sauce. It comes with our calzones and our spaghetti dinners," Gentilozzi said.

If pizza, calzones, and hoagies aren't your thing, Gentilozzi said Washington Square offers healthy options too.

"We have wraps and flatbreads, a lot of salads that appeal to people that are health conscious," Gentilozzi said.

Kelsea Hall is a Clarksburg resident who lives nearby and said she's become a regular at Washington Square.

"They have good staffing, they're really nice, it's good food, and it's just a good place to be," Hall said.

If you're looking for a good meal, made fresh, Washington Square is the place for you.

You can find Washington Square at the corner of 3rd Street and Washington Avenue in Clarksburg. It is open Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 3 a.m.; and Saturday and Sunday from 12 p.m. to 3 a.m.
