The Marion County Humane Society is getting a financial boost.
Farmers Mutual Insurance Company has presented the humane society with a check for $5,000 to be used on every day expenses.
The Humane Society is a non-profit, no-kill shelter that runs solely on donations.
It said it costs nearly $15,000 a month to care for animals and pay its employees.
The Humane Society rescued more than 800 cats and dogs last year.
