The Northern West Virginia chapter of Make-A-Wish has joined Pittsburgh and Southern West Virginia to become Make-A-Wish Greater Pennsylvania and West Virginia.
The merger became official September 1.
The Northern West Virginia chapter provides wishes to 32 counties in the state.
The Greater Pennsylvania chapter was founded in 1983 and has granted more than 15,000 wishes.
Make-A-Wish said the merger will allow it to run more efficiently and grant more wishes.
"There's a lot of things we can take advantage of now. Like I said, back-end, time saving and resources saving measures we can use. And we can really focus in the offices on our fundraising, special events, volunteers and wish granting," said Leandra Hickman, the regional manager.
Money raised for the original Northern West Virginia counties will remain local and will be based in Morgantown.
According to their website, the Morgantown office is still open while they look for a more centralized space in the area.
Volunteering, special events and wish granting will continue without interruption.
The organization hopes to grant 55 local wishes this year, and 762 wishes chapter wide.
