The Senior Monongalians held an event Friday for area grandparents.
Seniors Mons came out to hear music and have lunch at the Mountaineer Mall.
The group provides seniors with the opportunity to socialize.
The event also helped grandparents get out of the house, like Freda Thomas, whose grandkids live far away.
"It's a good place to meet people. I've met a lot of people, I've been coming for quite a few years. It's just, there's a lot of things going on and things that I've been involved in. It's just a good place to meet people and socialize," said Thomas.
Senior Monongalians will have several more activities this fall, including their annual Halloween party.
"Senior Mons offers you a lot. We have all kinds of exercise people that come in, we've got the equipment back there, we have a diet workshop here. We do bingo twice a week and entertainment comes in off and on," said Sandra Blosser, a Senior Monongalians Volunteer. "You can come up here and eat lunch with us, or just socialize and play cards. So, really if you're looking for something to do, don't stay at home and make yourself down. Come out here and have fun."
National Grandparents day is Sunday.
