Elkins Police Chief Rob White is retiring after 25 years of service.
White has served as chief of police since 2009 but has been with the Elkins Police Department for 25 years. His last day will be September 27.
White said it was time, and time to spend more with the family.
White said during his four years as chief, he's proud to have increased manpower and wages for his officers, create new rank structures and improve moral within the department.
White said he'll miss serving the citizens of Elkins.
"You look forward to it, because finally you have time to do the things in life you want to do, and the means to do it. But at the same token, as I said I've grown up here, and I'm sure I'm going to miss everybody, and miss the place at times," White said.
City Council will discuss this matter Thursday night at its regular meeting.
A public safety committee will conduct a search for White's replacement.
