Lewis County Holds 2 Festivals Over Labor Day Weekend

Posted: Updated:

The Labor Day weekend was a busy one in Lewis County. Businesses and vendors kept busy at the Jackson's Mill Jubilee.

The jubilee celebrated West Virginia's sesquicentennial by featuring heritage crafters throughout the weekend.

More than 7,000 people turned out for the event and organizers said they weren't the only ones to benefit.

"So that brings in revenue for every one of the hotels, your food vendors, I talked to Hickory House today, they got a lot of people to stop to eat. As they were going home, they'd say 'oh we didn't eat,' so they ate," said Debbie Garrett, Jubilee President.

Also this weekend, the Jane Lew Firemen's Arts and Crafts Festival brought people to the fire department and the city park.

Original story

Lewis County will host two festivals this weekend, the Jackson's Mill Jubilee and the Jane Lew Volunteer Fire Department's Arts and Crafts Festival.

The 5th annual Jackson's Mill Jubilee kicked off at noon on Friday.

This year's theme is "Come Home."

The event features local artisans selling their products.

Local musicians will play throughout the weekend.

Along with the music, there will be arts and crafts tents, an antique car show, Native American dancing, a pie baking contest and much more.

The gates close at 10:30 p.m. on Friday and reopen Saturday at 10:00 a.m. The jubilee will run until Sunday at 6 p.m.

Admission is $5 per person, and children under the age of 3 can enter for free.

And when you're done at the Mill, you won't have to go much further.

The Jane Lew Volunteer Fire Department is also holding its annual Arts and Crafts Festival.

Jane Lew firefighters empty their station's garage and parking lot for the weekend to fill the space with local vendors.

The event reaches across the street into the Jane Lew Park, and offers fair food for hungry shoppers.

The Firemen's Festival also wraps up at 6 p.m. Sunday night.

All proceeds will go to the Fire Department.
