One person is dead after a crash on West Pike Street near the on-ramp to Route 50 early Friday morning, according to Harrison County 911 officials.
The crash was first reported at 2:01 a.m. and only involved one car, according to 911 reports.
Clarksburg Police said Jason Greynolds, 34, of Spelter, was driving a white pickup truck that crashed into a bridge after exiting the westbound lanes of the highway.
An accident reconstructionist was called to the scene to determine exactly what happened. Police said speed was a factor in the crash and that alcohol may have also played a role. Greynolds was alone in the car and there were no other vehicles or witnesses around when he crashed, said police.
Clarksburg police, fire, and EMS crews are on the scene. They have not released any information about the person who died or a vehicle description. No one else was injured.
Clarksburg Police are investigating.
