The Marion County Commission is supporting two Fairmont teenagers in their effort to revitalize Fairmont's skate park.
The teens volunteered to repaint the park, clean it up, and more.
Monongah is now taking a step forward and asking for help to build one in its community, too.
Warren Sloan, a Monongah resident, has made it his own personal goal to give the town's kids something to do.
He attended the commission meeting last Wednesday to share his plans.
He wants to build a skate park off of Route 19 by the old high school. He said it was "the best piece of property in Monongah".
He also added that the closest skate park for the kids is in Fairmont. Because it's hard for them to get there, they are loitering the streets and upsetting some of the residents.
He has already raised $5,000 for a skate park and plans to raise more.
Sloan said he expects the entire project to cost between $10,000 and $15,000.
He held a town meeting Monday evening to discuss the details and ways to raise more money.
The Marion County Commission said it is willing to help. Once Sloan gets feedback from the community at tonight's meeting, he will go back to the commission.
