PARKERSBURG (AP) — Blennerhassett Island Historical State Park in Parkersburg is offering two nature programs later this year.

The programs focus on the area's native plants and wildlife.

On Sept. 7, volunteers will help participants identify insects observed along a walk.

On Oct. 5, participants will learn about fish, mussels and the ecology of the Ohio River.

Participation in the programs is free, although there is a cost for the boat ride to the island.

Four such programs were held earlier this year as part of Blennerhassett Island's Six Saturdays series.
