The Fairmont State football team held its yearly Media Day from Duvall-Rosier Field on Sunday afternoon.
Among the biggest storylines in Fairmont: Head Coach Jason Woodman enters his first year with the Falcons. He brings an entirely new coaching philosophy, along with new players.
Among the 96 players on the Fairmont State roster, 57 of them will be new to the program this season. On top of that, the Falcons will be sporting brand new jerseys.
Fairmont State has always had Adidas uniforms, but have since made the switch to Nike. The team will wear white jerseys at home, sporting the letters 'FAIRMONT' across the chest. However during away games, the Falcons will dawn the maroon jerseys with 'FALCONS across the chest.
FSU was picked to finish seventh in the new Mountain East Conference. Players said predictions are one thing, but at the end of the day you still have to prove it on the field.
"I'm aware of it," Falcons senior linebacker Garrett Davis said. "I looked at the other rankings. From what we've done in the past, I can see why we're ranked right there. I don't see why we can't pull off on top this year. With the talent we have and the new coaching, and with everyone being so excited."
"The tradition here is really strong in football. That's what the community wants. They want us to bring football back. It's going to be a process, but hopefully if we can do it all within this year, we will definitely take that," FSU junior tailback Daniel Monroe said.
Fairmont State will host Seton Hill in its first game of the season on Thursday, September 5th at 7 p.m.
