The renovations on the Meadowbrook Mall are almost complete.
If you've been in the mall recently you have probably noticed some changes including new carpeting and lighting fixtures.
Property Manager Marcello Lalama said there are still a few finishing touches to do before the mall will be ready to re-open by mid November.
"Just some finishing touches from the finishing work. The painting, the dryvit work they call it, the EIFS work they call it, and you're going to see the finishing touches on it. We have to be done by November 1 and our grand opening is November 16 so we'll be working very steadily every night up until then," said Lalama.
Other work recently done to the mall includes a 45 foot high food court entrance and tile work in the center court.
The Meadowbrook Mall in Bridgeport was shut down Wednesday morning so a helicopter could help with renovations.
More than a dozen heating and air conditioning units were replaced on the roof.
The entire mall had to be cleared during the 45-minute event.
Property Manager Marcello Lalama said having full control over the mall's temperature makes it a very comfortable shopping experience.
"The whole history of malls is that they provided a temperature controlled environment for people to shop in which is always a plus for the people in the winter time in the cold of winter and the heat of summer it's always a nice place to go where the temperature is 72 degrees or so all the time," Lalama said.
The mall started a renovation project in April that includes lighting upgrades, changes to the main entrances, and new flooring. The project will also improve the mall's energy efficiency and utility accessibility for its stores. A new logo was also developed for the mall.
The $5 million renovation project to the Meadowbrook Mall should be finished by November 1.
In July, the mall also welcomed a new store. Buckle opened up next to Rue 21, replacing a Pac Sun store and cell phone accessory store.
