The Greater Morgantown Conventions and Visitors Bureau received an award for its website.
It beat over 6,000 other applicants for a 2013 Silver Communicator Award from the International Academy of Visual Arts.
The award is given for performance in marketing and ads for travel and tourism. According to a news release from the Greater Morgantown CVB, the Communicator Awards is the leading international awards program that recognizes big ideas in communications and marketing.
"We've received over 150,000 unique visitors a year to our website and we continue to grow that year after year. We continue a lot of online and social media that increases those visits as well. It's just showing that what we're doing in the travel and tourism world is really starting to take notice and increase our visibility for the Morgantown area," said Cindy Coffindaffer, of the Morgantown CVB.
"We are honored to be recognized on an international level for our online marketing," said Peggy Myers-Smith, GMCVB President/CEO. "The GMCVB Web site is just one tool we use to attract visitors to the area, but it is a very powerful tool, accommodating more that 150,000 online visits annually."
The Greater Morgantown CVB also has a visitor's center that is open for travelers to come through.
