West Virginia University's marching band, the Pride of West Virginia, will make its Big 12 debut this fall.
The band will travel to Norman, Oklahoma on September 7 as the Mountaineers take on the Sooners in a nationally televised broadcast.
The WVU Foundation is asking for your help in raising money for the trip.
The university said the band will need nine buses to carry nearly 400 band members on the 1,200 mile trip, and will require 120 hotel rooms for the band to stay overnight.
The band will also travel to Baltimore and perform at M&T Bank Stadium, home of the Baltimore Ravens, for the Maryland game on September 21.
The WVU Foundation created "The Pride Travel Fund" during the summer of 2007 in order to help defer the cost of travel for the WVU Band.
In the first year of the fund, the foundation raised approximately $90,000, and has continued to provide much needed funding for the band's travel ever since.
Contributions to the Pride Travel Fund have enabled the Pride of West Virginia to travel to Syracuse, Cincinnati, Rutgers, Connecticut, Auburn, LSU and Washington D.C.
