There is plenty of Little League Baseball action this weekend as a pair of teams shoot for regional titles.
The Bridgeport 9 and 10-year-old all stars area heading off to Ceredo-Kenova in Wayne County for the Southeastern Regional Final.
Last weekend Bridgeport beat rival Fairmont in a tight, 3-2, game that saw a Fairmont runner stranded on third when the final out was made. The win lifted Bridgeport to it's second straight 9 and 10-year-old state title.
The annual tournament will feature some of the best talent in the country with teams traveling from Florida to Virginia. Despite the annual tournament being hosted in the Mountain State, it has never been won by a West Virginian team.
"Regardless if we win or lose, I'm really proud of the kids," said head coach Billy Reep. "We've done everything we set out to do. We've got a new goal now to win the southeast regional, its going to be difficult for us, but regardless I'm happy with the kids, and pleased with how they've preformed."
"It's really exciting," said Bridgeport player Max Harbert. "It's the first time I've played little league, and the first time I won states."
The Bridgeport 10 and 11-year-old all stars also won its state title. That team heads for North Carolina for its Southeastern Regional final. Read that full story here.
