One of Clarksburg's most popular restaurants is getting a makeover, but don't worry: its red-carpeted walls aren't going anywhere anytime soon.
The Wonder Bar Steakhouse on Old Bridgeport Hill will have a brand new entrance with cedar plank beams and a stamped concrete floor, a new indoor dining area with a gorgeous view of Clarksburg, and an extended outdoor patio and deck area.
Owner Daniel Watts, who bought the Wonder Bar in the last year, said the idea to renovate is part of his master plan to double its capacity.
"There was kind of a vision of where we wanted to take it to the next level, so to speak. It's been an icon here for nearly 70 years, and there was just kind of a vision to open up the area, take advantage of the views that we have here," Watts said.
Watts said the master plan also includes a new kitchen and larger restrooms.
He said most of the major renovations will be finished by the end of the year, but diners will be able to notice some of the changes by this fall.
The Wonder Bar is open every Tuesday through Saturday from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.
