Fondue Factory Hosts Benefit for P.U.R.R.

Wednesday was "Pay It Forward Wednesday" at the Fondue Factory in Morgantown, and the big winner was "People United for Rescue & Rehabilitation," known as P.U.R.R.

Fifteen percent of the proceeds went to the Grafton-based cat shelter.

P.U.R.R. West Virginia has taken in almost 200 kittens this month alone. It costs the shelter $100 per kitten to spay and neuter them prior to adoption. P.U.R.R's adoption fee is just $50 for one cat or $60 for two cats or kittens. P.U.R.R. host adoptions every third and forth weekend of the month at Pet Supplies Plus in Clarksburg.

P.U.R.R's executive director, Lorna Vincent Venter, said the most important thing is to spay and neuter your animals. She also said that every cat and kitten are spayed before they leave P.U.R.R. through the adoption process.

Through it's mascot "Percy," P.U.R.R. also does outreach projects with local children to help them learn how to interact with animals.

P.U.R.R. relies on donations to continue its mission. Earlier this year, the group received some help from an organization called Rescue U, which helped make improvements to the shelter.
