Some police officers traded their badges in for aprons Sunday, as part of the Shinnston Police Department Annual cookout for the community.
The police officers grilled up hot dogs and Shinnston residents got to swim in the community pool for free.
This was the 13th year for the event that brings the community together to meet their police officers.
Officers said it's a good way to make the community feel relaxed and comfortable with men in uniform.
"It makes it a little bit more personal. That we're not just the guys hiding out in the bushes. We try to do rotating shifts so they don't see the same faces at all times. If people see us out, they'll know we're here to protect them," said Officer John Billie, Shinnston Police Department.
Two bicycles were raffled off, and safety information was also provided.
