Leroy Mabe, has been awarded a life membership in the West Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants. This is only the 41st life membership presented by the WVSCPA. Mabe is being recognized with this honor for his long-time service to the organization. He has been an active member for more than 50 years. Mabe served in the U.S. Army and has operated as a sole practitioner in Bluefield since 1976.
Recipient of the organization's Outstanding CPA in Business and Industry Award is Elton Bond. Bond currently serves as senior vice president and chief accounting officer of MRC Global Inc.
Lawrence A. Pack is the recipient of the Public Service Award. Pack is the managing member of Stonerise Healthcare, the parent company that owns and operates four skilled nursing and rehabilitation facilities in West Virginia.
Adam K. Kennedy is the West Virginia Young CPA of the Year. Kennedy is a 2008 graduate of Ohio Valley University and is a manager in the Parkersburg office of Suttle & Stalnaker, PLLC.
Robert R. Simpson Jr. is the recipient of the Outstanding Accounting Educator Award. Simpson is a full-time faculty member in the College of Business, Division of Accountancy and Legal Environment at Marshall University. In addition to this award, Simpson has previously won the organization's Merit Award in 1970, the Public Service Award in 1989, the Distinguished Service Award in 2000 and the Life Membership Award in 2007.
Joseph P. Mowery is the recipient of the 2013 Outstanding CPA in Government Award. Mowery currently serves as the business manager/treasurer of the Pendleton County Board of Education.
Beth F. Bumgarner received the Women to Watch Experienced Leader Award. Bumgarner is a member in the Parkersburg office of Suttle & Stalnaker PLLC.
Erica D. Cameron has been presented the Women to Watch Emerging Leader Award. Cameron is the controller of Ohio Valley University.
