The West Virginia House of Delegates recently elected Tim Miley of Harrison County as its speaker.
Miley's friends and family threw a celebration in his honor Tuesday evening at the Bridgeport Conference Center.
Miley said even though he represents all parts of West Virginia, his new leadership can't help but be good news for this part of the state.
"I'm very sensitive to the needs of Harrison County and North Central West Virginia. So being in the speakers role, I am in a position to address those needs. I certainly can't show favoritism, but because I'm from North Central West Virginia, I am more likely to be more keenly aware of the issues and the problems," said Miley.
The House elected Miley speaker last month.
