Acording to a press release provided by the West Virginia State Police, the WVSP and Upshur County Sherrif's Department were called to Kay's Diner in French Creek around 5 p.m. on Sunday for a reported gunshot victim.
When officers arrived on scene, WVSP discovered that Robert "Pee Wee" Williams was lying on the diner floor vomiting and convulsing.
According to the press release, workers told officers that Williams ordered food and then asked that workers call his sister to tell her he had been shot.
Williams was then transported to Ruby Memorial Hospital. As of Monday morning, Williams was no longer listed as a patient at the hospital.
The release said that officers found no evidence of gunshot wounds after Williams was treated for his wounds, but officers later discovered that Williams shot himself with a plastic spring loaded BB pistol approximately six times in the leg.
No charges have been filed.
The State Police in Upshur County reported a shooting that sent a man to Ruby Memorial Hospital by Healthnet on Saturday evening.
According to officials, the man, 47, walked into Kay's Diner in French Creek and ordered food before telling workers he had been shot in the leg.
The man walked into the diner around 5 p.m.
The man was not shot at the diner and police believe the shooter is still on the loose.
