Residents of a Randolph County town were bringing history to life Saturday.
"Beverly in the Civil War" highlighted the role that Beverly and the surrounding communities played during the 1860s.
Guests could see firsthand crafts practiced in the time, and enjoy exhibits in the Beverly Heritage Center
Organizers said having people reenact the roles and jobs from the period makes the event even more engaging.
"We have quite a few community members that come and actually portray different Civil War people and dress up in period clothing, and I really think people enjoy that. They get to talk and see different things that they wouldn't see elsewhere," said Alison Thornton, an Americorps volunteer at the Center.
The event wrapped up with a dinner at a local church and a performance by the Blue and Gray Community Choir.
