Representatives from more than 20 local schools attended a Safe and Supportive Schools Conference Wednesday at Lakeview Resort.
School administrators said the purpose of the two-day conference is to focus on policy 43-73, which addresses expected behaviors of students.
Administrators said they look at improving the policy each year in order to improve behavior and academics.
"It's really a partnership, and we like to emphasize our partnerships with our parents. Certainly parents send their children to school to learn, and that's or top priority. But in order to do that we have to have a certain set of norms and expectations so our children can be successful," said Shari Burgess, of University High School.
Representatives from more than a dozen Monongalia County schools attended the conference.
