The city of Elkins will celebrate Independence Day all weekend.
Friday, families enjoyed live music, games, and activities at the Martin Street Fair, a two-day event sponsored by the Davis Health System Foundation's Special Projects Committee.
Patrons and vendors alike said there are plenty of good reasons to come out to Martin Street.
"Just to see, this is the first time they've had anything on this street, cause this is a new street, I just wanted to see what was down here," said Mary Wayland of Alexandria, Va.
"When we bring our animals to events, people get to see some of the animals that we have available for adoption that are in need of homes," said Carrie Shupp, of the Randolph County Humane Society.
The event will conclude Friday evening with fireworks at dusk.
