It was a sad day Tuesday for many Preston County residents as demolition began on the former East Preston High School.
Hundreds of people came out to watch as the nearly 90-year-old building was demolished.
The demo will help make room for an addition to the Terra Alta-East Preston School.
On-lookers said the building holds many memories.
"It's hard for me because my husband and I, we fell in love here in Junior High, we got together many years later, but it's sad for me to see it go," said Laina Smith-Riley, who attended the school.
"It's very depressing. I spent sixth grade all the way through 12th grade here. I'm watching the rooms be knocked down and saying I used to go to that room, have class in that room, and that room, and now it's all coming down," said Brian Schoolcraft, who also attended the school.
The Terra Alta-East Preston School was once a high school and junior high.
It now holds pre-K to eighth grade students.
