Bridgeport City Council swore in officials, and filled a vacant spot at the Bridgeport City Council meeting on Monday.
Four council members were sworn into office: Diana Cole Marra, Bob Greer, John Wilson, and newly elected mayor Mario Blount.
Blount was previously the city recorder, he resigned from that position on Monday to leave that seat open.
Greer was named the new recorder by council, which now leaves a seat open on council.
"I felt it was real important that we bring somebody in, because it's a two year unexpired term, that had experience and was dedicated to the city, and Robert Greer fit that mold. Council unanimously approved Bob, and now the process is a four year unexpired term for the Bridgeport City Council," said Blount.
Greer said council needs to find a new member who mixes well with the current council.
"I think the city council is going to look for someone that thinks the way the current council thinks and is interested in seeing Bridgeport move forward and continue in the same upward fashion that we have been on in the last four years," Greer explained.
Anyone interested in running for this vacant council seat can send a bio to Andrea Kerr by Wednesday, July 3 at 4 p.m. or sign up to speak at the next Bridgeport City Council meeting on Monday, July 8th.
Council will choose a new member after that meeting.
