The Tygart Valley Child Advocacy Center has finally opened its doors in Taylor County after five years of planning.
The Child Advocacy Center aims to help children who have been physically or sexually abused.
Taylor, Preston, and Barbour counties came together to form the Tygart Valley CAC.
Before the grand opening in Taylor County, children would have to go to Monongalia, Marion, or Randolph counties to be interviewed.
"Having a center here, the child can be here in five to 10 minutes. So it's important. And the fact that we are right behind our hospital; it's an advantage to us. So we are excited. We are very excited," said Walesca Marrero, Tygart Valley CAC.
"We requested money from the leadership. They gave us $20,000 to be split among the three counties. So we had $6,600 hundred and $60 some dollars to spend. It was just enough to get all of the recording equipment and furniture," said Mike Manypenny, (D) W.Va. House of Delegates.
The Tygart Valley CAC in Taylor County invites the community to come in and take a tour of the facility.
