The West Virginia Board of Examiners for Registered Professional Nurses has reinstated the provisional accreditation of Salem International University's Associate of Science in Nursing program.
The board reversed its June 13 decision to withdraw provisional accreditation on Friday, June 28. The university is able to offer the program to students to prepare them for the state board's registered nursing exam.
"We are pleased with the board's reversal of its earlier decision. The University looks forward to working collegially with the Board," said John Luotto in a news release.
SIU's Luotto had asked the board to reconsider the withdrawal, citing that the program complied with the directives highlighted in the February 25 letter from the board.
