Davis Memorial Hospital is offering a new service for smokers.
The hospital is offering lung screenings using spiral CT scans.
The scans create 3-D images by rotating the scanner around the body to check for lung abnormalities.
The decision to get a screening, though should be made with your doctor's input.
"Without such a program, lung cancer is caught at a late stage so the benefits of the screening are to catch the disease at an early stage which offers patients an increase in survival from less than 25 percent to about 75 percent," said Dr. Paul Hartel.
The first screening clinic is scheduled for July 26.
