Chili Cookoff Returns To Philippi

Posted: Updated:

An annual tradition returned to Barbour County on Saturday.

The City of Philippi hosted the 16th annual Smokin' on the Tygart Chili Cook-Off.

Cooks from around the area gathered in Philippi to test their culinary and decorative skills against other chefs.

The event also featured a car cruise and live entertainment.

Organizers said it's a good way to showcase both the chefs and the city.

"We are so fortunate that we have a great courthouse lawn here where a lot of people can set up and show what they have to offer, and we are so fortunate that it brings people to downtown Philippi to see what is here in Philippi," said Annette Santilli, event organizer.
