Tradition is the mark of any solid sports program.
If you can maintain that winning attitude from one era to the next, then that is when you've got yourself a winner.
The Lincoln Girls Basketball team has been able to do just that.
The Lady Cougars should be an immediate contender in Class AA come November. Lincoln only loses two players due to graduation.
Former MVB MVP Emily Knight returns, including sharpshooter Makayla McEwayne and 6-foot center Hayley Haning.
Lincoln advanced to Charleston last year, but fell to Miki Glenn and eventual state champion Bridgeport in the opening round.
But even Head Coach Rob Hawkins admits, there's a lot to like about next year's team.
"It's wonderful to have them all here. That way we get to work on things; everything. Full squad drills and we can run this just like it's a regular practice. We've had 14 to 18 players every day. So we're able to run normal practices," Hawkins said.
"We have a couple tough ones coming up. We have a full class of seniors right now. Our junior class is really small. But we really look forward to our freshman class stepping up," Lincoln senior guard Makayla McEwayne said.
