Morgantown City Council approved new ordinances to change parking rates in the downtown area and how drivers will pay to park in select lots.
Council members voted Tuesday night to increase parking rates to $1.25 an hour from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m.
Drivers will also be able to park for longer periods of time in three lots.
"We have three new parking lots that will have a change in the way parking is enforced. Three lots will go to pull ticket machines instead of meter lots, that allows us to increase the flexibility of parking in the downtown area," said City Manager Jeff Mikorski.
Mikorski also said it's possible the Parking Authority could start enforcing the new parking rules as early as Wednesday evening.
