Reclaim Company finished demolishing the 400 block in Fairmont five months ago.
A new state office building will take its place, and bring 200 jobs with it.
The Marion County Commission said the project has been put out for bid.
The commission will decide on a bid in the next few days, and construction will start soon after.
"Anywhere from 30 to 45 days you should start seeing some building going on up there. Right now, RJ Williams is getting the site ready. There is some more drainage up there they are doing. I'm glad everybody finally got on board," said Butch Tennant, of the Marion County Commission.
Tennant said the state building is just the beginning of a brand new Fairmont, and people have already started talking about bringing restaurants to the area.
The building is expected to be finished next year.
