People in Lewis County helped celebrate National Trails Day at Stonewall Resort on Saturday.
This is the first time the resort offered this event. It encouraged the public to get out and exercise.
A hike took place on Rush Run, which is a six mile stretch starting at the Stonewall Jackson Dam, and leading to the scenic property near the resort's lakeside cottages.
One person we spoke with said she enjoyed being outdoors with her bike.
"West Virginia is my home state, and I always say why go somewhere in the summer when we have such a vast play area for vacation? We have all the lakes and the trails. I love it here. I'll take the beach for two days, but send me back to West Virginia," said Amy Duncan of St. Albans.
More than 2,000 nationwide events took place including trail maintenance, hiking, paddling, bird watching and horse back riding.
