A local man is still taking steps to put an end to hunger.
Wayne County native Tom Knopp calls his project "Walking Out Hunger."
Knopp started in April and hopes to walk in each of West Virginia's 55 counties to raise awareness, and money, for local food banks.
He continued his journey Thursday with a stop at Catholic Charities in Elkins.
Knopp said he hopes to raise $550,000 for the Huntington area and Mountaineer food banks.
"The hunger is growing by leaps and bounds. I know in my local food pantry I've seen tremendous increase, and every county I've been in thus far which is about 39 counties. Everyone of them tells me their numbers are growing," Knopp said.
Knopp will continue his journey into Pocahontas and Webster Counties Friday and Saturday.
His walk will finish in Wayne County on June 23.
