Jamie Bordas

Managing Partner,
Bordas & Bordas PLLC
Wheeling, 38

Jamie Bordas has been able to make a life doing not just one but two things he's always dreamed of — practice law and coach football.

Bordas is managing partner at Bordas & Bordas PLLC, the firm his parents started in 1985. He considers himself lucky to have performed every job at the firm, starting with file clerk.

"From the time I was a young kid, I watched my mom and dad practice law and all the people they were able to help — the good they were able to do in our community, and I thought this was such a great thing," Bordas said.

Bordas just finished his 11th year as the Wheeling Central Catholic High School defensive coordinator, with seven of those including state championship wins.

He attended the University of Notre Dame for both his undergraduate and law school degrees.

"In addition to working with my mom, my dad and my wife, I also work with some of my closest friends," Bordas said. "To get to work with them every day has been one of the very, very special things in my life."

Bordas' wife, Stacy, is a lawyer at the firm as well, but she's been staying home with their four children — Alexis, Jay, Luke and Matthew, who was born in early April.

"Pretty much everything I do is done in connection with her, but I usually am the one who gets most of the credit because people see me," Bordas said.

He always knew he'd want to return to his hometown, which has the benefits of living in a smaller community but is a short drive from several big cities.

Bordas hosts a weekly television show through West Liberty University, and he's president of the board of directors of the YMCA — something he enjoys because he grew up going to the Y after school.

He is chairman of the Catholic Charities West Virginia annual gala, has served on the Blue Ribbon Commission for Catholic Education and is on the parish council at St. Vincent DePaul Church in Wheeling. He volunteers with several other local organizations and supports the Notre Dame Sorin Society.
