Community members gathered at the courthouse plaza in Morgantown where people gathered to place wreaths on different war plaques.
Billy Williams, 85, said he hasn't missing a Memorial Day Service in more than 60 years.
"I joined the VFW in '52. The commander there said there's a lot more than just coming up to the bar, there's a lot of things to be done. He said, why don't you take an active part in going to the Memorial Service, and Veterans Day and going to the funerals and I said Alright," said Billy Williams, Veteran.
Williams said he can remember one Memorial Day when the temperature was just 18 degrees.
