Fairmont residents celebrated Julia Pierpont Day on Saturday.
Julia Pierpont, the wife of Governor Francis Pierpont, is known by many as the originator of 'Decoration Day', better known as Memorial Day. She was responsible for decorating the Union Soldiers graves in Richmond, Virginia.
Actors dressed in colonial garb and told stories about the characters they played.
Guests ate breakfast at Veterans Square and then went to the Woodlawn Cemetery to lay wreaths on the graves of 100 veterans.
