Hard work for students at Buckhannon Academy Elementary has paid off.
The school is the top fundraising school for the area in the American Heart Association's Jump Rope for Heart program.
The school raised more than $8,000.
Students enjoyed the news by getting healthy with activities liking jumping rope, using a hula hoop, and writing healthy encouragement notes.
"It raises awareness for them to be able to help somebody in need as far as the donations, and thru the American Heart Association to help fund their research on new children that are born with single heart defects and things like that," said Jacob Orr of Buckhannon Academy Elementary.
Last year Buckhannon Academy raised around $4,000.
The heart association said the school literally doubled their funds raised making them one of the highest earning schools in the state and the highest in their region.
