A Harrison County Delegate has expressed interest in becoming the next speaker for the West Virginia House of Delegates.
Delegate Tim Miley was in Bridgeport Sunday afternoon as the guest speaker for this year's graduation ceremony of the West Virginia Junior College.
Miley has been a delegate for nine years and is chair of the House Judiciary Committee.
Miley said whether he's selected or not, he wants to see West Virginia move forward.
"I want to be part of helping to shape public policy that helps West Virginia move forward, and if I can do that in the role of speaker great," he said. "If someone else is the preferred choice of speaker, I'm still happy to serve with and for that person."
Marion County Delegate Mike Caputo is not ruling out the possibility of running for house speaker.
Governor Earl Ray Tomblin has 10 days to call the House into session to choose a new speaker after Richard Thompson steps down.
