This is National Women's Health Week and the Monongalia County Health Department is reminding women to take care of themselves.
The health department's breast and cervical screening program has helped more than 500 women and caught five cases of breast cancer since September of 2010.
Nurses said many women ignore regular medical exams because they are simply too busy.
"A lot of women, being caregivers, are making appointments for their children, getting their kids taken care of, their family. A lot of women are taking care of their parents, and there not taking care of themselves," said Monica Cutlip, of the Monongalia County Health Department.
The Health Department's breast and cervical care program can help low income or underinsured families.
