One of the great things about this time of year is buying freshly picked fruits and vegetables from local farmers.
The Bridgeport Farmers Market held a kick off presentation Tuesday evening at the Bridgeport Public Library.
Debbie Workman is the market's treasurer. Workman said events like this are helpful when it comes to spreading the words.
"It's important to the farmers market to be able to get out and talk to people in the community because it created awareness. Even though we're beginning our fifth season at the farmers market, a lot of people still don't know that we are here on a weekly basis," said Workman.
The Bridgeport Farmers Market will open this Sunday, May 12, Mother's Day from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., at Charles Pointe in Bridgeport.
