The Doddridge County Commission has passed the first reading of a proposed Floodplain Ordinance.
The commission spent most of Tuesday morning listening to residents who believe the new ordinance should be revised and rewritten.
Commissioner Gregory Robinson said the previous ordinance was unconstitutional and the Commission needs to pass a new one as soon as possible.
"The floodplain ordinance is necessary because FEMA indicates that without a floodplain ordinance, flood insurance will not be available in the county," Robinson said.
The Commission also appointed five new members to the Doddridge County Ambulance Authority board of directors.
