If you cast your ballot on Election Day, there’s a strong chance are you did it in a school or other public building. Schools and churches in the Mountain State are the most common locations for setting up polling places. And it’s been that way for a long time.

Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin will host a news conference at 11 a.m. May 2 at St. Francis Hospital in Charleston to announce the state's Medicaid coverage.

Tomblin will join Randy Flanagan of Christ Church United Methodist; Thomas Health System CEO Steve Dexter; United Health System President and CEO Tom Jones and U.S. Sen. Jay Rockefeller, D-W.Va., who has been a long-time supporter of Medicaid, repeatedly speaking against cuts to the program on the Senate floor.

Tomblin also has scheduled a media briefing prior to the announcement, starting at 9:30 a.m.

The U.S. Supreme Court decided to uphold the Affordable Care Act in June 2012, offering states the right to decide whether or not to expand Medicaid coverage.

The option would include more than 120,000 West Virginia families who earn less than 128 percent of the federal poverty level.

Tomblin issued a news release about the decision at about 9 p.m. May 1, just two hours after his schedule briefing for May 2, which included four other events for May 2.
