Students from across the state were in Bridgeport Wednesday for the Ford AAA Student Auto Skills Competition.
Twenty students competed in teams of two to advance to the national competition in Dearborn, Michigan.
The winning team also won scholarships and prizes.
"They bugged 10 items on the car and we just had to diagnose and fix it," said Cody Schmidt, competitor.
"This is a great opportunity for students to come out and showcase what they've learned at their career and technical centers," said Jerry Cremeams, instructor.
The teams had 90 minutes to find the problems and fix them.
The judges graded them on accuracy and timing.
