Pierpont Community and Technical College has approved a tuition increase for its students.
The Board of Governors has approved an increase of 7.51 percent.
That works out to $145 per semester for residents and $344 for non residents.
Pierpont said it was counting on Senate Bill 508 to lower tuition but it failed.
"We were actually hoping to roll our tuition back to the level that we were charging students back in 2011. That was our plan if our bill had went through. They actually would receive a savings. But we couldn't get there," said Dale Bradley, vice president for Finance and Administration.
The tuition hike will take effect in the fall for the 2013-2014 school year.
