Local Hospitals Join Forces For a Good Cause

Employees at St. Joseph's Hospital and Stonewall Jackson Hospital played in a charity basketball game on Tuesday night in Buckhannon.

The game helped raise money for United Way of Gilmer, Lewis and Upshur counties. Organizers hoped the event will raise several hundred dollars to help United Way reach its goal.

"We're having a great competition between Stonewall Jackson Hospital in Weston and St. Joseph's hospital in Buckhannon, and we're having a fundraiser for the United Way. So we thought we'd join hospitals just like we've joined forces in the counties with Lewis County and Upshur County," said Sue Johnson-Phillippe, president and CEO of St. Joseph's Hospital.

Johnson also said that the United Way helps many non-profit organizations in both counties.
