Three Webster County Schools were honored for energy efficiency Tuesday.
The schools, including Webster County High School, were named the most energy efficient in the state.
The high school uses geothermal energy from underground wells to heat and power its buildings.
It's part of an effort to raise awareness about energy usage in the schools.
"It teaches kids, for one thing, to be energy efficient, to be aware of their environment and what's taking place, and how to be conservative with energy and that sort of thing," said Mike Bonnett, of Webster County High School.
Geothermal power has reduced the school's expenses since they were installed more than 10 years ago.
