5th Annual Ramps and Rails Festival Rolls into Elkins

The fifth annual Ramps and Rail Festival rolled into Elkins on Saturday.

The nice warm weather brought a large turnout of people to this wild onion extravaganza.

Food and craft vendors had items for sale, including specialty items and unique ramp dishes.

There was also live entertainment and two one-hour train rides offered.

The ramp is a popular delicacy here in West Virginia.

"It's seasonal you don't find them year round. You have to go out and just dig them up. You don't just go and find them every place, and with the mountains we do have ramps," said Elkins Mayor Van Broughton.

Organizers may consider making the festival a two day event in the future.
