West Virginia State Fire Marshal Calls Fairmont Fire 'Suspicious'


The West Virginia State Fire Marshal is offering a $5,000 reward to anyone who has information on a structure fire in Fairmont.

It happened Wednesday at 1367 Locust Avenue, near Fairmont State University.

The tenants had just moved out of the residence that day and the structure was vacant at the time of the fire.

The State Fire Marshal said the fire originated in the basement stairwell and was set intentionally.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Fairmont Detective Division or the arson hotline at 1-800-233-FIRE.
