The National Research Council did a report last year that stated ways to keep research universities competitive.
West Virginia University is one of nine elite universities hosting a series of events gathering public feedback on that report and its recommendations.
The first event was a forum held Friday in the Museum Education Center. Guests of the forum discussed everything from immigration reform to how to recruit the best graduate students.
"We wanted to host an event to make sure our folks here, faculty, graduate students researchers, staff were aware of the report and its recommendations but also give them a chance to have input into the national dialogue on these topics," said Jay Cole, the Chief of Staff at WVU. "Because we have a lot of people here who can have great contribution to the nations research."
